Valley View Early College Campus: Dear Parent/Guardian, the Texas STAAR Interim Assessment window closes tomorrow, Thursday, April 2. We still have a large number of students who have not yet completed their interim assessments. We strongly encourage you to ensure your child attends school tomorrow and understands the importance of completing this assessment by the end of the school day.

In addition, students are currently reviewing in class for their end-of-six-weeks exams taking place next week. Please note that the STAAR EOC Interim Assessments will count as a test grade for the 5th six weeks and will also help teachers identify areas that need review before the official STAAR EOC exams scheduled for April 14, 16, 22, and 28.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your child stay on track for success.

Dear ECC Families,

We want to follow up with an update regarding the lockdown that took place at our Valley View Early College Campus (ECC) earlier today.

As a precaution, ECC went into lockdown after an unknown individual was observed outside of our campus gate. The individual never entered our premises, and the lockdown was lifted within minutes. Hidalgo law enforcement responded swiftly and apprehended the individual.

This evening, officers informed us that the individual was found to be in possession of a toy gun. The individual is in police custody and the matter is being handled by law enforcement.

We are proud of the quick and professional response from our ECC staff, and we are grateful to Hidalgo law enforcement for their rapid action and for keeping us informed. The safety of our students and staff will always be our top priority.

Thank you for your continued trust in Valley View ISD.

Valley View Early College Campus (VVECC) briefly went into lockdown at 2:16pm out of abundance of caution. The lockdown was lifted by 2:19pm after law enforcement confirmed the area outside the school was clear. Students and staff are safe and normal campus operations have resumed. Thank you for our patience and continued trust in VVISD.

📚✨ Read Across America – High School Edition ✨📚

Today we celebrate the power of reading — not just as an assignment, but as a tool for growth, empathy, and opportunity.

Read Across America, launched by the National Education Association, encourages students of all ages to discover stories that inspire, challenge, and empower them. While it’s often associated with younger readers and authors like Dr. Seuss, the message is just as important for high school students.

Reading helps us:

🌍 Understand perspectives beyond our own

🧠 Strengthen critical thinking and vocabulary

🎓 Prepare for college, careers, and lifelong learning

💬 Build empathy and communication skills

Whether it’s a classic novel, a biography, poetry, fantasy, nonfiction, or articles about current events — reading expands your world.

📖 Challenge yourself today:
Pick up a book outside your usual genre. Read for 20 minutes. Share a favorite quote. Recommend a book to a friend.

Because reading isn’t just for school — it’s for life. 💙
